165th Birth Anniversary Of P.C Ray

Students of Garden High School IISER Kolkata Campus from Classes 10, 11 and 12, a total of 9 students, attended a commemorative programme on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, hosted by IISER Kolkata, jointly with Vivekananda Vijnan Mission, the West Bengal Chapter of Vijnana Bharati, and Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., marking the 165th birth anniversary of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray. Speakers included Prof. Ayan Datta (IACS Kolkata), Prof. Dulal C. Mukherjee (former President, Indian Chemical Society), and Prof. Sayam Sengupta (IISER Kolkata), who spoke after lunch, with an experimental demonstration by Prof. Sanjio S. Zade. Each speaker reflected on Ray’s futuristic scientific vision, describing his chemistry as a battle akin to those fought by revolutionaries, and his conviction that a nation advancing in science moves forward as a whole. The day concluded on an engaging note with an audience quiz that added an exciting, interactive close to the event.
