Special Programme to welcome Anirudh K.V
Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus organised a special programme on Thursday, 23 September 2026, to warmly welcome Anirudh K.V. , a remarkable young boy from Kerala living with cerebral palsy, whose passion for sports and reading, curiosity about the world, and positive outlook on life reflect extraordinary resilience, compassion and a spirit of possibility. He has recently completed his Class X CBSE Board Examinations from Kendriya Vidyalaya, NAD. Anirudh has faced numerous challenges in his everyday life. Yet, he refuses to let circumstances define the boundaries of his world. His journey is a remarkable story of courage, determination, curiosity, positivity and joy.
The programme began with a warm welcome to Anirudh and his parents, followed by the welcome address and an introduction to the young achiever. Anirudh was then felicitated by the school in recognition of his inspiring journey and achievements.
A brief cultural programme dedicated to Anirudh followed the felicitation. The performances reflected the warmth and admiration of the school community for their special guest.
An engaging interaction was there between Anirudh and the students where he answered questions by students. Anirudh highlighted positivity and ‘happiness mindset’. He spoke about his love for travel, reading and sports and shared glimpses of his experiences and interests. Having travelled extensively across India, Anirudh has explored different cultures, met people from diverse backgrounds and developed a strong sense of confidence and independence. For him, travel is not merely about visiting places; it represents freedom, learning and happiness. His words encouraged the students to look beyond limitations, appreciate life’s experiences and approach challenges with optimism.
The next event was a tree plantation activity, in which Anirudh participated. The activity symbolised growth, hope and a collective commitment towards a better future.
Anirudh then spent time interacting with the Pre-Primary students. His interaction with the young learners was filled with curiosity, warmth and joy. The children responded with great enthusiasm, making the occasion particularly memorable.
The programme ended with a friendly football match for boys and kho kho for girls, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie, enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Anirudh’s visit left a lasting impression on the students and staff of Garden High School, IISER Kolkata Campus.
His journey reminds us that physical barriers need not limit one’s dreams, experiences or aspirations. Through his determination, love for life and positive spirit, Anirudh continues to inspire those around him to embrace life with courage, curiosity, confidence and optimism.
